what that?

What That: July 15

The standard for hanging art on a wall is for the geometric center of the piece to sit at 57"- 60" off of the ground. A gallery curator I dated once said this was somewhat bullshit but not really bullshit. Their apartment was filled with priceless original prints that seemed to be at the right viewing height for themself and their ex-girlfriend: both of them approximately 70" tall.

My eyes sit at 57" inches off the ground, 4" below the top of my head.

I remind myself that I am perfect, I am the standard.

I tape an affirmation to my wall and move on with my day.

"it's never really that serious"

what what

welcome to what what, a new section of the what that newsletter! what what is a prompt for you, dear reader, that I ask you to indulge me in. let me waste a little of your time.

what do you have taped to your wall?

what do you have taped to/hung from your wall? what made you put it there? what does it feel like when you look at it? what if you had to replace it? what would you replace it with? what do you dream of taping to your wall? what in your most terror-inducing nightmares would you find taped to your wall?

I would love to see what you have on your wall -- send me a photo!
